First day at the cottage

We spent our first day at the cottage for the this year (first of many for me and the kids - I'm hoping to spend lots and lots of time there this summer) today and we couldn't have asked for better weather! It felt like a day in mid-summer. That made it very hard to leave at the end of the day, but we enjoyed the time we did get to spend there. The guys spent the morning getting things put back together after the high waters of winter and the afternoon playing with the sea-doo that Mom and Dad bought last year. Even Nathan got his turn.

There were quite a few boats out today considering the time of year. Every time one would go by Nathan would point and say 'boat.' Can't you almost see the 'b' sound on his lips in this picture?

He wasn't as fond of the waves the boats made, though.

When he wasn't pointing out boats in the water, Nathan was picking up rocks from the beach and throwing them into the water. Each time one landed he would say 'splash.' It was too cute. The bigger the rock the better he liked it!

We are back home now after a wonderful day with family. I'm a bit sunburned but thankfully the kids are good. Nathan was so wired from the day that he didn't even fall asleep on the way home. Hannah basically didn't sleep while we were there so she's due for a good sleep tonight.

On the way to the cottage Peter and I had a good discussion about what's important to us as parents regarding faith, education, and physical health (the idea to talk these things through came from here). I don't want to do 'accidental' or reactive parenting, so I'm really excited to have some steps to take to reach specific goals. Now for the implementation :)
